I love the detail on page 13 of the cat's tail being gone.

Though...why did the tail fall off? Is that a reference to something I'm missing or just a gag?

Some lizards will drop their tails as a decoy, or at least have tails that detach easily.

Or the cat shat itself.

I think it’s just a tailless cat and the mom bird assumed the falling object was the tail.

The cat definitely has a tail on the first panel though, then just a little stub when the goose chases it off
