Every cop there is just as responsible for this as the ass hole that put on the cuffs. They should all lose their jobs.

Deescalation isnt just when dealing with civilians. If you cant de-escalate your fellow boy in blue, what the fuck good are you expected to be with the populace?

I totally agree. If 2x people were sitting around watching a friend murder another person then they would all be held as accomplices.

I think all officers should have a 3 strike policy. If you repeatedly demonstrate an inability to de-escalate confrontations, then you should not be given a firearm and hand cuffs.

Furthermore, lawsuits that occur during the line of duty should be against the officer, not the department. I also think all officers should have to have insurance for such instances and that insurance should come out of their paycheck.

they aren't against the department, but the public is who pays. If it was against the department aka the union then other cops should be able to reign in and or fire the bad apples more easily as their union dues would be so high otherwise.
