I almost guarantee he’s working as a cop like one county over

u/Anjunabeast 2d ago

Name kept private. Investigated internally. Definitely working another department.

I'm sure someone with more free time could pull the town's budget, for 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019 to match the names of the cops that weren't on 2016, or 2019 and made less than a year's pay for the two other years since he started September of 2017 and fired July of 2018.

The town's budget gives aggregate figures, not individual officer pay.

The few 3rd party sources that do exist for individual officer pay don't have data for 2016 or 2018.

I suppose then we'd have the arduous task of checking the lowest paid cops from 2017 and from the bottom up, google search each one because I would bet this guy is definitely part of some very specific facebook groups. But that's just what I'd do if I were so inclined.

Well they said he's Hispanic and was hired in 2017. Based on the Police dept FB it's Paul Huerta

Infamously

This guy has ICE all over him. I'm sure this video made him an easy hire over there

u/KnowMatter 2d ago

At this point when a video like this comes out I assume Pam Bondi shows up at their house afterwards like Sam Jackson to recruit them into ICE.

Yup or border patrol or a prison guard

He did work again for a PD in Alaska for a year and resigned a year later.

1

u/Name_Not_Available 2d ago

Wrangel Alaska, population 2000. Probably wasn't enough people to harass for him so he quit.

1

u/ExtremePrivilege 2d ago

He resigned in 2018 from that police department. Was hired in the South West. Worked there for 11 months and was involved in a civil rights case for assaulting two victims he accused of being perpetrators. Big settlement. He resigned from that position in 2019. Investigative journalist could not find record of him thereafter.

So at least one precinct hired him after this video and was forced to part with him less than a year later for, shockingly, the same behavior.

i googled around looks like this officer got fired, this video is from july 9 2018. i couldn’t find their name but i did see this department (desert hot springs) fired ANOTHER officer later that year for sleeping with informants lmfao

u/LocalInactivist 2d ago

The PD won’t release the cop’s name. That might affect his ability to get another job.

The officer in the 2018 video has been publicly identified as Paul Huerta (has been going by Jay Huerta for reasons). Further PD work experience for another year after the incident.

Wrangell, Alaska PD (June 2019–mid‑2020)

“He then moved to Desert Hot Springs, also east of Los Angeles, where he worked for over a year. It was not exactly what he was hoping for, however. He said that he wanted to be in a place where he could talk to people and get to know their names while on the job. In California, the pace of work just did not allow for that.”

lol so fucked up… the video certainly shows he get nose to nose with someone and got his name by arresting him with no cause...

Looks like it didn’t take long for the news to follow him up to Alaska though, since this had just come out a year later:

We all know. He was moved to a different precinct & continues to be a menace.

Aside from ending Qualified Immunity, we must start a National LEO Licensing Registry just like they have for RN's & make them carry liable insurance too!

We need them to fear for their jobs if they get out of pocket. Make it follow thm like student loans!

1

u/Historical-Tough6455 2d ago

At his age he probably just retired

1

u/somanysheep 2d ago

Apparently he's a cop in Alaska now....

1

u/DominicB547 2d ago

Or, at least if they must have Unions have the Union be the ones that pay out the settlements.

Why are my dues 3K a month? Why did they raise to 5K? come on man get your act together stop treating the citizens like trash. You are making it hard to make a living with all these ever increasing union dues!

so you go after the cops and have the cops police themselves since its all of their money on the line.

1

u/somanysheep 2d ago

So then you think RN's and teachers should work the same way? Nah, LEO will never be capable of fairly policing each other.

If the Union is responsible for paying out civil claims, then only those loyal to the Union will have their suits settled out of court & those who don't will face charges. Corrupt systems cannot self regulate.

Five days after the incident, DHS Police Chief Dale Mondary says the officer is no longer employed with the department.

Deservedly
